IN SAUDI ARABIA
WINTER SOLSTICE

Although Christmas is not a tradition celebrated in Saudi Arabia, the locals partake in the Winter Solstice around 21st December.  The event happens twice a year, once in the summer and again in the winter when the sun reaches the highest point in the sky.

Contrary to popular beliefs that the event lasts all day, the solstice is a very short celebration which traditionally occurs when the sun is directly above one of the tropics.
